Carena
needs your help - she's only 12!
12
year old Carena Cash-Abbey from Hackney, East London, needs a bone
marrow transplant. Carena was diagnosed with Leukaemia in July 2006 and
after 5 months of intense chemotherapy, she went into remission.
Carena completed the Ten (Bridges) London Charity walk with her school
on Sunday 30 September this year. Just 3 days later she was told
that the leukaemia had come back and she would now need a Bone Marrow
Transplant. The consultants would like to do this in 10 weeks if
Carena is in remission. She has just received her first block of
chemotherapy and will have a short two week break before she commences
the second.
Here is a letter written
by Carena telling her story.
My name is Carena Cash-Abbey
(I am 12 years old living in Hackney, East London)
"I recently completed the Ten (London) Bridges Charity Walk with my
school on the 30th September 2007 and 3 days later, I found out that I
had relapsed after 11 months of remission. I spent 5 months in hospital
having intensive chemotherapy to help me fight leukaemia after a long
spell of illness in July 2006. I now need more chemotherapy as well as a
Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) to save my life".
You never know, you might be my match.
Thank you
Carena xx
